To whom will we ask for protection when the barriers and obstacles blocking? To Him shall we apply security.
Mount
Kerinci is the highest mountain in Sumatra, Indonesia's highest volcano
and the highest peak in Indonesia outside of Papua. Mount Kerinci is
located in the province of West Sumatra and Jambi, in the Bukit Barisan
Mountains, near the west coast, and is located about 130 km south of
Padang. The mountain is surrounded by dense forest and Kerinci Seblat
National Park is the habitat of the Sumatran tiger and Sumatran
rhinoceros. (http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunung_Kerinci)

of Mount Kerinci is at an altitude of 3805 meters above sea level, here
visitors can see in the distance stretches a panoramic view of Jambi,

I'm
not a climber, the last time I climb to the peak is Mount Gede in 2000.
I wonder what is going on inside of me until I decide to take the
summit of Mount
Kerinci.
So I immediately set up my physical with a lot of jogging and even doing light hiking in Cibodas.
I arrived in Jambi. Actually, to reach Mount Kerinci, better through Padang, West Sumatra.
From
Jambi, I go to Sungai Penuh, the last major city. 10-hour from Jambi.
Arrive at Sungai Penuh at 2 am, while I still had to take public
transport to the Keresik Tuo village, the last village. 2 Hours From
Sungai Penuh. But I had
to sleep at the bus stop waiting for 6 o'clock morning to get the bus
to Keresik Tuo.
Arriving
in Keresik Tuo. At the intersection (SImpang Macan), we can start
climbing towards the R10 (Post Registration Gunung Kerinci). But because
we don't understand the field, we decided to stay overnight at the base
camp. Since there is no guide to come with me on that day, we were
asked a Guide named Johan Kerinci to make a map of the hiking trail.
With a map made of cardboard Aqua, I went with 2 of my friends to the
summit of Mount Kerinci.
From Rimba Gate, we started to climb, the path is still mild and not
too steep. From Rimba Gate, it takes about 3 hours to reached Post 3.
"During
the climb, we should not bring food that smells fishy. Due to lure wild
animals like tigers. Along the way we found some tiger tracks, there is
a sense of excitement and fear. Along the way we will listen to the
very beautiful symphony from the birds. According to recent research
there approximately 140 species of birds in the forest and some unique
bird species in the world only exist in these mountains. So no wonder
that journey we meet researchers from abroad who are studying one
species of bird that only exists only in Kerinci mountain region. "-

We felt so heavy
terrain from Post 3 heading Heading to Shelter 3. Nearly 70% we have to
use our hands to climb the tree roots along the path to the summit.
There is only one lane in Mount Kerinci. And it is a dead river, which
would be very difficult in the rainy season. The track is very narrow
and steep. From Post 3 to Shelter 3 approximately 7 hours.
We
decided to camp at Shelter 3, is not a good place to camp because the
wind is very strong. We do it because we wanted to catch the sunrise at
the summit.
In
morning around 4. We went on a hike. From Shelter 3, we
passed Tugu Yudha. An inscription on a stone in memory of the lost
climbers in the 80s named Yudha. There also exist other inscriptions,
namely Adi monument, also in memory of the lost climbers in the 90s
named Adi.
When
climbing, we can see lake called Danau Gunung Tujuh. This lake is a
beautiful lake and unique in Indonesia. This lake is one of the highest
caldera lake in Southeast Asia with an area of approximately 960
hectares, a length of 4.5 km, and a width of 3 km. The lake elevation
about 1,950 meters above sea level. The location is at the Pelompek
Village, District Ayu Aro, Kerinci regency, Jambi. Because of its
location at the top of the mountain, making the atmosphere of the lake
is still beautiful and natural. Fresh air, green scenery, crystal clear
lakes and
water presenting the beauty that can make you comfortable to linger to
enjoy the scenery. Besides being a place to relax and unwind, this lake
is also used as a source of livelihood of local fishermen. Lake Gunung
Tujuh is enchanting volcanic lake created by the volcanic eruption of
Mount Seven in Kerinci regency. The eruption led to the formation of a
large crater that was then filled with rain water to form a lake. Lake
Gunung Tujuh has several streams, one stream empties into the Batang
Hari River. - Afriandi
From
shelter 3 to reach the top, we need a 2-hour ascent. The climb is very
steep with a slope of nearly 80 degrees. Sand and rock climbing. Strong
winds add to chill of the air temperature. However, we remain focused
and pray to the God ....
And finally the summit of Mount Kerinci.
Do
you know about a short guy (dwarf)? They are the greatest natural
mysteries. And to this day still thoroughly by many researchers in the
world. Short people / uhang Pandak is the name given to an animal (human
or Bunian) which has seen a lot of people for hundreds of years. Often
appear around the Kerinci Seblat National Park, Jambi. Although not a
few people who've seen it, its existence until now is still a puzzle. No
one knows exactly what kind of creature it is. We hear stories of
climbers from Europe were lost and saved by these creatures. Even
National Geographic use their camera
traps in the forest in order to capture these creatures, but until now
they could not be found. - Afriandi
