Historic Island in Thousand Islands

Starting from Muara kamal, somewhere in Jakarta. We set sail for about hour to Kelor Island. On this island there is a shipyard Dutch heritage and VOC fortress built to face the Portuguese attack in the 17th century. Kelor island takes part of the dark history of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. The island was once a graveyard for many political prisoners who were executed. In this island, there is a Fort Martello, built by VOC in the 17th century. The fort is made of red brick as circular weapon that can be maneuvered 360 degrees. Martello fort on this island damaged by the tsunami caused by the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883.

And then I continue sail to Cipir Island.

On this island there is a historical relic, which is a fortress built by the Dutch in VOC era. Here are sources of fresh water is clear and clean.

In the Dutch colonial period, this island is the shelter of pilgrims. At that time, if the disease is detected from pilgrims, especially infectious diseases, then it's not allowed to leave.

Before the Krakatoa volcano erupted, it's easy for visitors from Cipir Island to go to Onrust island. Because there is a bridge that connects the two islands. However, this bridge has now been destroyed by the effects of the eruption of Mount Krakatoa.

So I must sail again to The Onrust Island.

Onrust Island is the headquarters of the Dutch colonial army before coming to Jakarta and occupied it. On the island is Dutch soldiers unload the logistics of war.
